The "progressive" element of conservative Canadian politics no longer exists in a political party. In 2003, Peter "Judas Iscariot" MacKay pulled one of the biggest double crosses in history by turning over the party of Sir John A Macdonald to the scheming Stephen Harper.

The Conservative Party of Canada is for all intents and purposes the Reform Party founded as a western protest movement by Preston Manning in 1987.

MacKay's thirty pieces of silver consisted of being made Cabinet-Minister-of-Anything-I-Want by Harper after their party captured the government.
